Help Save Senior Citizen's Lifelong Home
Donation protected
It’s hard for me to ask for help, but my situation has become desperate. I am a senior citizen, own my home and have always been able to manage living independently despite having health concerns including long-time heart and back issues. I have lived in this home with my parents, both of whom have long-since passed on, since I was 5 years old.
Although tough at times, I have managed to afford to stay in my home, but it’s more than just a home to me. For the past 18 years or so, I have volunteered with animal rescue groups in our area. I have fostered and adopted several dogs over the years. They have all crossed the Rainbow Bridge except my little Rosie who remains my precious companion. In addition, my fellow volunteers have nicknamed me “the wildlife whisperer”, because I have raccoons, turkeys, foxes, and deer who not only come up on my deck to beg for their peanuts and treats, but even tap at my sliding door to let me know it’s time to eat! It will break my heart to lose my home, but sadly I only have until the end of May to raise $6,000 to cover back taxes or it will be taken from me. This year I was not able to pay school and property taxes due to frightful declines in our economy, and although my taxes for next year have been significantly reduced through a senior exemption I was not aware of until now, it’s too late to help me with this past tax debt.
I know it is asking a lot on short notice to raise so much money, but I’m praying for a miracle. If I raise enough to cover my taxes, I can stay in my home. If not, I will use money donated to relocate me and Rosie when I am forced to vacate, as I don’t even have enough money to cover a move right now. Your donations will either help me keep my home or at least help me cover the cost of relocating. Rosie and I thank you from the bottom of our hearts for any help you can offer. PLEASE SHARE!
