Our sweet Savvy (Savs, Fluffy Butt, Fluffer Nutter, Savannah) got the diagnosis no one wants to hear (the big C word) and at the very young age of 4 when diagnosed, we are doing everything we can to try to make her as healthy as possible so that she can live a long, happy, fluffy life.

We recently found a mass in her lower abdomen and through a bunch of tests learned it was a very rare cancer (which if left alone did not have a good prognosis). Right away we scheduled surgery to remove the mass, which was successful, but since it was so close to her lady parts, they were not able to remove it with clear margins. Savvy was the fighter we know and handled the surgery great. She may be missing some of her fluffy butt for now but she's rocking the "shaved chic look."

Since they couldn't get clear margins, the doctors highly suggested radiation. Looking at the silver lining of our first oncology visit (which happened to be on Savvy's 5th birthday), they were very optimistic that radiation would significantly reduce the chances of the cancer growing back. And to top it off the office gave Savvy lots of birthday treats!

We are starting her radiation treatments this month, which will consist of 20 treatments, 5 days a week. We have a great doctor and staff who all have given Savvy so much love already and we are very confident in their care.

The one caveat of our care for Savvy is that since she was so young and healthy prior to the diagnosis, we did not have pet insurance. We never once questioned if our Savvy girl was worth the cost of the vet bills. However, through all of the tests, mass removal surgery, CT scan, and now radiation treatments, it has inevitably become a much bigger financial burden on us than we can handle and so we are turning here for help.
