Help Save Sammy - My Best Friend of 14 years

Donation protected

Sam is not just a dog; he's my best friend, my confidant, and my loyal companion for the past 14 years. I got Sam when I was just 16 years old, and he has been by my side through every chapter of my life.

What Happened?

Recently, Sam was hit by a car and suffered serious injuries, including pelvic fractures and dislocation, an abdominal rupture and a tail injury. The vet has recommended urgent surgery to give him the best chance at recovery and a good quality of life.

Why We Need Your Help

The cost of Sam’s surgery and post-operative care is estimated to be around $18,000. This amount is overwhelming, but Sam is worth every penny. He deserves the chance to enjoy his golden years pain-free and surrounded by love.

Before the accident, Sam was in perfect health and condition. Despite his age, he is still so full of life, always eager to play, explore, lay by the fire and enjoy snuggles with us. His spirit remains unbroken, and we believe he has many joyful years ahead of him.

The Surgery Itself

The vet is confident that this is the best-case scenario considering the severity of Sam’s injuries. The damage has not affected any weight-bearing bones and should be a relatively easy fix. With the surgery, Sam has a strong chance of recovering fully and returning to his happy, active self.

Sam's best friend and big little brother, Joey, is eagerly awaiting his return. Joey has become anxious without his best friend by his side, continuously hovering by and returning to the location that the incident occurred. We hope to reunite them soon so they can continue their adventures together.

We are asking for donations to help cover the cost of Sam’s surgery. Any amount, big or small, will make a huge difference. Your generosity will not only give Sam the medical care he needs but also give us more precious time together.

Breakdown of Costs Incurred and Expected

These costs are providing there are no complications.

- $2,000 - Emergency intake and stabilization.

- $1,589 - After hours in ICU with X-ray.

- $3,000 - CT scan to see the extent of damage and check for any abdominal injuries.

- $8,000 - Two surgeries: the first to fix his herniated bladder and amputate his tail, and the second to fix two screws to realign and attach his sacrum back onto his spine.

- $500 (average per 12 hours) - After-hours care and monitoring for Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

Our goal is to raise $18,000 to cover the costs of Sam’s surgery, medications, and rehabilitation. With your help, we hope to see Sam running and playing again, enjoying life as he always has.

Paying It Forward

If we are lucky enough to raise more than we need, the remaining funds will be paid forward directly to another animal in need to brighten someone else's day. If they wish to, we will share their story too.

From the bottom of our hearts, we thank you for your support. Whether you can donate or share our story, every little bit helps and means the world to us.

We will keep everyone updated on Sam’s progress and recovery. Your support and encouragement mean everything to us during this difficult time.

Please donate and/or share our story. Together, we can help Sam get back to his family that miss him more than words could say.
