Help Save Samantha: Our Family's Best Friend

It deeply saddens me to be sharing the news that our precious Samantha has been diagnosed with a mass growing in her nasal passage deep in her sinus towards her eye.

The doctor is 60% sure it’s a malignant tumor, yet we are hopeful it could possibly be a fungal infection instead.

This news came sudden and quick, forcing us to make hard decisions that have required us to dip into savings in order to provide Sam with the best care.

Not only are we saddened by the sudden realization that we may lose her soon, we also lose the dream of having her meet our baby girl Amara who is due to be born on August 29th.

Here is a message from Alex who has been with Samantha since she was 6 weeks old:

“I’m absolutely heartbroken by the sudden turn of events with my dog, Samantha. For the past 10 years, she’s been my companion — loyal, loving, and deeply intuitive. She’s helped carry me through some of the hardest chapters of my life, including the loss of my father. She’s absorbed my pain, comforted me in silence, and remained by my side through every moment of tragedy. As we soon prepare to welcome our daughter Amara into the world, the thought that Samantha might not be here to meet her weighs heavily. Even though I’m still holding onto hope that she can make it through the challenges ahead. Samantha has been diagnosed with a rapidly growing malignant tumor deep in her nasal canal, which has now spread throughout her sinus cavity. The only potential treatments—radiation or chemotherapy—come with no guarantee of success, and both could compromise the quality of life she deserves. She’s currently on six different medications to help ease her discomfort, but we know this is only a temporary solution, not a cure. As many of you know, veterinary care—especially for severe conditions like this—is incredibly expensive. With a baby on the way and our financial resources stretched thin, we’re asking for help of any kind. Whether it’s emotional support, sharing this message, or a donation, anything helps us navigate this painful time. I have had the privilege of experiencing Samantha Butterbean through my relationship with Alex. She is quite literally the best girl ever—calm, sweet, loving, patient, quiet, wise, and well-behaved.
