Help save Sadie from IMHA

Donation protected
Hi everyone. We are distraught with grief as a family member we hold dear has become ill.  Sadie is our beautiful 6.5 year old Brindle Boxer girl. She’s never been sick before this instance and has lived a happy healthy life here in western NY.  She’s played a role as “big sister” to a few foster dogs over the years and we feel she helped those dogs to trust humans again.  She is a gentle soul with a huge heart and we are hoping to extend her journey.  Before I explain Sadie’s condition, I just wanted to emphasize how much Sadie means to our family.  She is such a sweet girl who has brought so much joy into our world.  She’s my sons best friend and companion.

This fundraiser is to help pay for Sadie’s medical expenses and all funds will be used exclusively for those debts.

Sadie became very ill over the weekend.  Doctors believe she experienced a mini stroke due to a blood clot in her brain.  She had a high fever and began to refuse to eat or drink.  She became extremely lethargic and refused to move from her dog bed, only getting up with help to go potty outside.  When we witnessed her collapsing and looking up as if to say, “help mom”, we chose to go to emergency vet care.

She spent the day 11/16/2020 receiving fluids and tests with round the clock care.  X-rays and scans showed no tumors or concern in her chest and spleen.  Blood work showed that her red blood cells were very low and they became concerned with bone marrow cancer.

11/17/2020 doctors believe her
diagnosis will ultimately be Immune Mediated Hemolytic Anemia (IMHA). This is a very serious and deadly disease that effects cats and dogs.  It’s not contagious to humans or other pets and there is no known cure, today.  Essentially this disease is making her immune system work a little bit too well and it’s destroying her red blood cells. A normal blood count is 35. Her blood count got as low as 16. Because of this Sadie will be starting blood transfusions.

She has been in the intensive care unit for two days and expenses are building up quickly. Already $4500.

Doctors have warned us that that Sadies care could be expensive and intense for several months to come.

Sadie is a member of our family and we have chose to try to help her live the most comfortable life that we can provide her for the time she has left.  We do not want to say goodbye to Sadie unless her quality of life is in jeopardy or she is experiencing unbearable pain.

We know times are tough, especially this year, and we appreciate any support provided.

We ask that supporters spread the word and share her story in an effort to support our pup and family during this extremely trying time.

If by chance this fundraiser goes above the set dollar amount to be raised, we will be donating that difference towards an animal charity to continue the support with other pets in need.

Thank you for your time and consideration and a big thank you to everyone who’s sent well wishes, prayers and positive thoughts. We will fight this for our sweet boxer girl.
