Help save Ruby after terrible accident!

Four days ago, our beloved Ruby --a sweet and loving , gentle 4 yr old cockapoo was hit by a car on Golf Road, Agassiz. We were heading out for our morning walk.. She's always so excited to go that she stepped out a bit too far onto the road before I could catch up to her.

She became my companion during Covid and has been our comfort, our comic relief and our loyal friend. Anyone who has met her was greeted by her rushing to meet them, tail wagging. She loved everyone. Seeing her in pain has been incredibly difficult, but we're grateful she's still with us. She was taken to a trauma center for animals in Vancouver.

Unfortunately, the accident caused serious injuries. Ruby has lost her right eye and the other is still uncertain. Both upper and lower jaws were fractured and have been wired together. She is facing a long road to recovery with multiple vet visits, surgeries, medications and close monitoring.

While we're doing everything we can for her, the medical costs have quickly become overwhelming.

1. Initial assessment was $600 before she left Agassiz.

2. Upon arrival at Trauma center, they required a $10,000 deposit. This was the only place that had a cat scan to assess head trauma. This required an anesthetic and intubation.

3. Some time later a feeding tube was inserted in order to give meds and nutrition.

4. An opthamologist is assessing her left eye today. A neurologist will reassess her head injuy tomorrow.

5. A second deposit will be required to continue care, meds and treatment.
