Help Save Roux: Our Daughter’s Beloved Dog

Hello everyone,

We are reaching out to our friends, family, and all kind-hearted people in a time of urgent need. Our daughter Austin’s beloved fur baby Roux is currently in the ICU at Bay Beach Veterinary Emergency Hospital, and we are doing everything we can to ensure she receives the critical care she needs.

Roux is not just a pet; she is a cherished member of our loving family who joined the family in June of 2019 as a rescue from Southeastern Virginia Golden Retriever Rescue (SEVA Great). She brings us endless laughs, unconditional love, and companionship every single day with her goofiness, cuddles, and crazy hair days.

Unfortunately, Roux recently fell ill. She stopped eating and we initially thought it was just depression since she had been separated from her sister Butterscotch who was recovering from a recent ACL surgery. Her condition quickly deteriorated, and she began vomiting and became jaundice. After consulting with veterinarians, it became clear that Roux needed immediate intensive care and, since then, has been in the ICU receiving necessary medications, IV fluids as well as an ultrasound, which revealed her common bile duct is enlarged. Roux will require further testing, including a CT scan to determine the cause of the bile duct enlargement and high liver and Tbili (total bilirubin) levels.

The medical bills for Roux’s ICU treatment are substantial, even with Austin’s professional discount, and they continue to accumulate with each passing day. As much as she wishes she could cover these expenses on her own, it adds up quickly, and she just can’t imagine not having Roux in her life. That's why we are turning to the generosity of others for help.
