Our beautiful boy Rodney, who is six years old, is currently fighting for his life in the ICU at the Royal Veterinary College Hospital after suffering major cluster seizures, more than ten in just a few hours. He wasn’t able to recover on his own and had to be rushed to the hospital, where the incredible veterinary team have been doing everything they can to help him pull through.
Rodney was placed in an induced coma to help his body rest and recover. He’s had a tube placed down his throat to help him breathe and has been receiving oxygen support in a chamber. The specialists believe he’ll need a palatoplasty, a surgery to fold and stitch part of his soft palate to help him breathe more easily, and once he’s stronger, a BOAS (Brachycephalic Obstructive Airway Syndrome) surgery to permanently fix his airway obstruction.
This brave little boy has already been through so much.
Rodney came into Pug Life Rescue, a wonderful charity that takes in pugs from all walks of life. Many of these precious dogs have medical issues with ongoing needs and expenses, and the charity works tirelessly to give every pug the chance to live a happy, healthy, and loved life.
I adopted Rodney in November last year as a forever foster after he came into rescue with severe epilepsy. He’s been doing so well, full of life, love, and cuddles, until this terrifying setback.
Rodney truly is the sweetest, most gentle, loving soul. He adores people, loves his pug family, and brings so much light to everyone who meets him. He has such a kind heart and not a single bad bone in his little body. Despite his hard start in life, he’s never stopped being full of love. ❤️
Now we just want to give him the best chance possible to recover and continue living the happy, love-filled life he deserves. But the cost of his emergency ICU stay, ongoing treatment, and surgeries is expected to reach £12,000, which is a huge amount for the rescue charity to cover.
We’re asking from the bottom of our hearts for help.
If you can spare £5, £10, £20, or anything at all, it will make a difference. Even the price of a coffee could go towards saving Rodney’s life. Every single donation, big or small, is deeply appreciated.
Please help us give Rodney the chance to keep fighting.
He’s such a beautiful little soul who deserves a long, happy life surrounded by love, cuddles, and all his favourite people and pugs.
Thank you so much for reading, sharing, donating, and sending love our way. From me, Pug Life Rescue, and everyone who loves Rodney, thank you for helping us give him hope.
Love Lucy x
