Hi, my name is Gaby and I’m fundraising for my dog, Rocky.
Rocky has been part of my life since my parents rescued him in April 2016, when I was a child. After my parents divorced in 2018, my sister moved in with my dad and took Rocky with her. During that time, I rarely saw them, but whenever I did get the chance to visit, Rocky was always the first one I hugged. He was my comfort and my best friend.
Over the years, as I rebuilt my relationship with my dad and sister, I began to notice Rocky’s health was worsening. Each visit, I would beg them to take him to the vet because I could see something was seriously wrong—but nothing was ever done.
On October 31, 2025, I saw Rocky again—and my heart broke.
He didn’t wag his tail when I spoke to him. He had almost no fur on his tail, bald patches of skin, missing nails replaced by swollen skin, his eyes were red, swollen, and surrounded by peeling skin. He could barely open them.
No one else was home but me and my girlfriend. I knew I couldn’t leave him like that. I bought him food, called my mom, showed her his condition, and we agreed—he needed emergency care right now.
When I told my dad and sister I was taking Rocky to the vet, my dad told me there was no point—that he would die and I’d waste my money. But I couldn’t turn my back on him.
We took Rocky to the emergency vet. After 5 hours, we learned what I feared:
• Rocky has a severe skin infection
• He has untreated hypothyroidism, which they knew about for years but never treated
• His case was serious enough that the vet flagged it as animal neglect
From that moment, I knew Rocky was my responsibility. I told my dad I would be taking him home with me, and with my mom’s help, we plan to bring him home this Monday.
I’m a full-time college student working a full-time job. We live paycheck to paycheck to afford school, bills, food, and take care of our two French bulldogs. We love Rocky and don’t hesitate to take him in—but his medical care is more than we can handle alone.
Every donation will go directly to Rocky’s:
• Veterinary visits and follow-up care
• Medication for hypothyroidism
• Treatment for his skin infection and eye condition
• Blood tests, lab work, and prescriptions
• Food, hygiene products, and recovery supplies
• Emergency or specialist care if needed
Rocky was my childhood dog. I missed years with him, and although I was young I regret ever letting him leave our home. Seeing the condition he’s in because of neglect is something I’ll never forget. We are determined to give him the love, safety, and medical care he was denied.
Even $1 helps. Sharing this page helps just as much.
Thank you for listening to Rocky’s story and for any help you can offer.
We just want him to feel loved and safe again.
