Help Me Save Roar

Hi, I’m Bee, and I run Paws Adoption By BEE, a small independent rescue that specialises in caring for special needs, neglected and vulnerable cats. My rescue is already beyond capacity, but sometimes an emergency comes along that simply can’t be ignored.

Right now, though, my focus is on a tiny little kitten who desperately needs our help.

Meet Roar.

Roar is a beautiful little ginger and white boy, estimated to be 12 weeks old. Despite his age, he weighs only 1 kg, leaving him severely underweight, malnourished and incredibly vulnerable.

Late last night, a kind member of the public found Roar soaking wet, weak and alone under her car. She didn’t hesitate to help, taking him inside and keeping him warm, safe and dry until I could collect him first thing this morning. As soon as he was in my care, Roar was rushed straight to my vets , where he was admitted for emergency treatment.

Before Roar came into my care, a post had already been made about his unusual head movements in the hope that someone could help him. Sadly, most of the advice offered was simply to take him to the vets or have him scanned for a microchip. While those suggestions were well intended, they didn’t change the fact that this tiny kitten was still lying there, cold, soaked, malnourished and desperately needing someone to physically step in and help.

Thankfully, that’s exactly what happened. Knowing I have experience caring for special needs and critically ill cats, I was contacted and immediately made arrangements to collect him. Without the kindness of the lady who kept him safe overnight and reached out for help, I honestly don’t know what Roar’s outcome would have been.

Sometimes these kittens don’t just need advice… they need someone willing to act.

What worried me most were the neurological signs he was showing, including abnormal head twitching and unusual head movements.

Roar has now undergone blood tests and other diagnostics. Thankfully, some of the more serious diseases have already come back negative, which is wonderful news. However, his blood work suggests he may be fighting an infection, and we are still searching for answers.

One of the conditions still being investigated is neurological FIP, along with several other possible causes of his symptoms. At this stage, we simply don’t know what we’re dealing with, but we do know he needs further diagnostics, treatment, medications and supportive care.

My rescue is already stretched beyond its limits, and I am still caring for the many cats already depending on me every single day, including my colony cats. I simply can’t say yes to every animal in need. But when a tiny kitten is found after midnight, soaking wet, critically unwell and with nowhere else to go, walking away simply wasn’t an option.

Unfortunately, emergency veterinary care is incredibly expensive, and after the recent emergencies involving several other cats, I simply cannot cover these costs alone.

Today, I’m asking for your help to give Roar the very best chance at life.
