Help Save Riley Oliver – Our Fur Baby Deserves a 2nd chance

A little over a week ago, our lives were turned upside down when I noticed something was terribly wrong with my 7 year old Shih Tzu, Riley Oliver. He was struggling to go to the bathroom and had blood in his urine. As any pet parent would, I immediately scheduled a telehealth visit with our vet. The diagnosis was terrifying: Riley likely had a urinary blockage and needed to be taken to a 24-hour emergency veterinary hospital right away.

Upon arrival, the emergency team wasted no time. After extensive tests, including an ultrasound and x-ray, we received heartbreaking news—Riley had a massive amount of bladder stones and multiple stones lodged in his urethra. The only option to save his life was immediate emergency surgery, which came with a staggering price tag of $8,000.

We were forced to make a gut-wrenching decision: attempt to save Riley, or say goodbye forever. As his condition worsened, we were only two minutes away from euthanizing him. But in a moment that changed everything, a relative stepped in and agreed to generously cover $7,800 of the bill—giving Riley the fighting chance he deserved.

Riley underwent surgery and spent five days in the emergency veterinary hospital, where costs climbed day by day, with a Grand Total of $8869.19 Thanks to the incredible staff and that life-saving operation, our sweet boy is still with us today. But we’re not out of the woods yet.

Riley now requires:

• Lifelong medication costing upwards of $500

• A special urinary diet to prevent the stones from returning

• Ongoing follow-up care and monitoring

We’re humbly asking for help to cover the amount borrowed for his hospital stay and surgery, the remaining medical expenses and to support Riley’s recovery and long-term care.
