Riley isn’t “just a dog” to me…he’s my heart in fur. He’s my 1‑year‑old Australian Shepherd, my shadow, my comfort, my soul dog. A few days ago, everything changed. He started pacing like he couldn’t rest inside his own body, drooling uncontrollably, running into walls, and even losing control of his bladder. I watched the light in his eyes flicker, and I knew something was terribly wrong.

I rushed him to the vet, shaking, praying, begging for him to be okay.

After hours of tests, I heard the words no pet parent ever wants to hear: Riley has a rare, life‑threatening condition called portosystemic shunt disorder. His liver can’t filter toxins, and the ammonia is already affecting his brain. That’s why he’s acting confused. That’s why he’s hurting. That’s why he’s fading.

Without surgery, I will lose him in a matter of months.

Riley needs a specialist, an MRI, and a surgery that could save his life. The cost is overwhelming, and I’m doing everything I can—but I can’t do it alone.

I can’t have children because of my own health issues. Riley is my baby. My family. My everything. The thought of losing him is unbearable.

If you’re able to help…even a little…you’re not just donating. You’re giving Riley a chance to grow up. To play again. To be the happy, goofy soul he’s always been. You’re giving me the chance to keep the one being who has never left my side.

Thank you for reading. Thank you for caring. And thank you for helping me fight for my boy.
