Help Save Rico - Our Beloved Cat Needs Urgent Care
Donation protected
Hi! My name is Fay and this is my sweet cat Rico. He’s only 3 years old and has always been a loving, playful part of our family. Recently, Rico suddenly became very unwell. After undergoing scans, surgery, and blood tests, vets couldn’t find a clear cause—until they suspected IMHA (Immune-Mediated Hemolytic Anemia), a rare and serious condition where the immune system attacks red blood cells, causing severe anemia.
Rico's red blood cell count dropped so low he needed an emergency blood transfusion. With no feline blood available at the time, he received dog blood—a rare and risky but lifesaving procedure. We were able to cover the cost of that transfusion, but now he may need another, this time with cat blood, at the Queen Mother Hospital for Animals. The estimate for the blood transfusion, excluding the cost of the further care at his current hospital, is £5,000 - £6,000.
We are heartbroken but determined to fight for Rico’s life. He’s young, full of love, and deserves the chance to recover and come home. If you’re able to help, even a small donation would mean the world to us and bring us closer to saving Rico. If you don’t have the means to donate, please share.
Thank you so much for your support, prayers, and kindness.
