Help Save Remo: Our Beloved Dog Needs Surgery

Hi There, we’re AJ and Joey. This is our dog Remo. He’s only one year old, and needs major surgery. He’s our boy and we love him. We can’t afford to lose any more family right now.

Two weeks ago, Joey lost his mother, Lia, in a tragic accident while she was attending her brother’s funeral in Brazil. We immediately rushed to Brazil to make arrangements for her. Lia was a big part of our life here in Astoria. Not only was she Joey’s Mom, but she was a Mom to me too.

We arrived back from Brazil a week ago, completely shattered, and still needing to clean out her apartment, and work through her affairs - when, quite literally out of no where, Remo became violently ill (I’ll spare you the explicit details). We rushed him to the hospital Saturday night (03/22). They put him in the ICU to run tests, and he’s been there ever since. For days the doctors performed countless tests and scans, yet had no conclusive answer. But finally today we were told that he needs emergency surgery to remove his spleen, amongst a few other procedures. As he stays in the ICU, the estimated costs keep going up and up. The quote is now at $20,000, and continuing to rise. We do have pet insurance, but we have to pay this money up front, and the insurance will not cover everything.

This is coming on the back of freshly losing Joey’s Mother, his Uncle, and a few months before that his Grandmother. I also lost my father two years ago, which I still have not fully recovered from. We keep losing family members, and even though we can’t afford this vet bill, we REALLY cannot afford to lose anymore family. Please help us save our boy.
