Help Save "Boone"!

Donation protected
Boone was about 8 months old when we got him in March of 2016. At the time we happened to be neighbors with a foster home that fostered dogs from a dog rescue group called Savin Juice Dog Rescue based in Salem Oregon. They had brought him up from a high kill shelter out of Southern California to our neighbors house. We could see into their yard and when we saw him, we just had to meet him! It was love at first sight! The last 4 years with him have been absolutely chock full of love and affection! He is the absolute most affectionate dog who loves everyone! If he could snuggle in bed with us all day, that would be his idea of heaven lol!

On Tuesday June 2nd, we were out in our yard. My 2 dogs were hanging in the yard eating grass while I was working on weeding a flower bed. After about an hour, we went inside. Everything was normal that night. The next morning we awoke to find Boone's kennel full of blood and him not wanting to move! Our other dog was fine. We rushed Boone to his local Veterinary the morning of Wednesday June 3rd, where he was treated for Hemorrhagic Gastroenteritis from an unknown cause and released with oral meds to take for the next few days. On Thursday June 4th, he had significantly declined in health; not wanting to eat, barely drinking water and not being able to even get up to go to the bathroom. We decided that it was time to rush him to an emergency Animal Hospital that evening! He has been at the Willamette Veterinary Hospital in Corvallis since then.

Boone has received 2 blood transfusions, intravenous medications of antibiotics, anti-nausea and other supportive procedures. X-rays have been taken with no foreign bodies detected. Blood work shows that his red blood cell count keeps dropping. He is losing massive amounts of blood from his GI tract. An ultrasound is being performed tonight to see how well the ulcer or ulcers are healing. They suspect that he might've somehow eaten rat poison! This is an absolute mystery to us because we don't use pesticides or any kind of chemicals on our property! And our animals are never outside without supervision! They live a very sheltered life. We have not been out walking on the beach for months. They have only been in our car, in the yard or at home. We are absolutely devastated that anyone could do that to an animal! We don't know this for sure but, the vet says that his severe case lines up with ones similar to rat poisonings. They have ruled out everything else but, they cannot specifically test for rat poison. He will continue to need intensive care for a few more days but, they do expect him to make a slow and steady recovery!

This dog brings an immense amount of love and joy into our lives and we are trying to do everything that we can to save his life! He is our best friend! We are not the type of people who normally ask for help from anyone and try to do it all ourselves. But, we are asking for help this time. This is a pretty chaotic time in the world and our furry peace loving creature needs your help so he can be our snuggle buddy again. Any support is appreciated! Thank you!
