Help Save Queenie’s Eyes
Donation protected
Hi my name is Shay and I’m trying to help raise funds to get a colony of cats the medical help they deserve.
One day while I was going for a walk around my town, I spotted these cats. There were two that immediately caught my attention. One gray and white cat- now named Charlie. Charlie's eyes were red, infected, and inflamed. It looked like Charlie was having a hard time seeing where the food was being placed in front of them. That’s where Grammie, another tabby whose jaw looked broken, would come in and help. She’d help guide Charlie towards the food so they could eat together.
Knowing these cats needed immediate help, I looked all over Facebook for a rescuer. A shelter in our area set up traps, which they would leave with food for days that ended up looking spoiled. They were also claiming that they heard these cats have looked like this for years, so they do not require immediate medical attention, to which I obviously disagreed. This detail is not to try to place blame, we know some shelters are overrun, but rather to show we have gone the shelter route and it just seems they cannot help at this time.
I then came across Katie who helped me connect with Joan. Joan comes with over 25+ years of experience in cat rescue. She laid down the ground work to help these cats. Shortly after, we connected with the colony’s feeder, Den. There are about 5 - 7 cats in this colony that are consistently fed by Den. He hasn’t given up on them and is doing his best for the cats.
Den notified us about a different cat in the colony who is in dire need of medical attention which he named Queenie. She had been missing for a few days and upon reappearing, we were able to see that part of her face/eyes appear to be bleeding. Joan, Den and I were able to trap her. We were all distraught about the condition she’s currently in. Therefore, I am dedicating this gofundme to help alleviate the costs that will go along with helping Queenie.
We want to help get back on her feet, and any amount you can give would be greatly appreciated by us. If there are any left over funds, they will go right into helping Charlie and the other cats in the colony get the medical attention they need.
