On Thursday overnight, my world turned upside down. Zozo, my 10-month-old Belgian Sheepdog and service dog in training, landed poorly while jumping and broke both bones in his front left leg. He’s just a baby — full of life, curiosity, and joy — and suddenly he’s facing an injury that could permanently change his future.

Right now, Zozo is undergoing weekly sedated re-splints to stabilize his leg. His veterinary team believes he is a strong candidate for surgery, with an excellent chance at healing and living a full, active life — but the surgery must be done within the next 2 weeks to save his leg. The cost of surgery and care is more than I can manage on my own.

Zozo loves to work, learn, and play. He thrives on activity — running, training, exploring, and being by my side. He is happiest when he’s engaged with the world. Without this surgery, there is a real risk that his mobility will be permanently limited, affecting not just his ability to be active, but his quality of life for years to come. The thought of him being held back by pain or limitation at such a young age is heartbreaking.

Zozo is more than a dog to me. He is my companion, my support, and basically my heart & soul. I am doing everything I can to give him the care he deserves, and asking for help is not easy — but I can’t do this alone.
