Hello! On Friday morning I was walking my 4 year old kiddos to school. Upon my arrival home I was greeted with the distressed meows of my sweet 7 month old kitty. In the 30 minutes I was gone he had fallen down the back of my wooden headboard and gotten himself stuck. When I found him he was very disoriented and was unable to stand or walk. I rushed him to the veterinary hospital and after a consultation and some X-rays it turns out our sweet boy has a broken hip that is unable to heal without surgery. He requires a femoral head ostectomy. A Femoral Head Ostectomy (FHO) is a surgical, often salvage, procedure for dogs and cats that removes the femoral head and neck (the "ball" of the hip joint) to alleviate chronic pain.
As a single mom, I don’t have the access to the $3000 I’ve been quoted to fix Pumpkin. My kids are heartbroken that their kitty is having to spend his time in a large cage as he currently has very minimal mobility. Living his life in constant pain meds and anti inflammatory medications is no way to live as such a young and health cat.
We truly are so thankful for anyone who is willing and able to help us save Pumpkin mobility so he doesn’t have to spend his life in constant pain or in a cage to keep
him safe.
