Hi Everyone! My name is Charity (yes, that’s my actual name) and I usually try to live up to my name and help others but now I am quite literally asking you to donate to Charity. But it’s not for me. It’s for my beloved dog, my baby-girl, Mia. She is a 12 year old Pittie that we rescued 8 months ago from a closing shelter. We specifically wanted a senior because they are the most overlooked. And we need some help so she can have life saving surgery to remove a mass from her neck that has suddenly flared from the size of an egg, to the size of a grown man’s fist ( in just a couple of hours). Her blood work looks great! The Urine sample looked good as well. The mass is localised and hasn’t metastasised to other organs and we want to get her this surgery because she has a really good chance of recovery and survival. She’s not a lost cause! I have spent all my savings on her and my mum has helped all she can, but we have depleted our resources and we have nothing left to give.
Please read our story! I know it’s a lot but it’s so important
OUR STORY: The instant I saw Mia, I immediately knew she was meant for me! Her kind eyes and beautiful soul had me captivated! She even has a heart birthmark under her chin that matches the one I have on my calf! The shelter received nearly 1,000 applications and only 2 people other than myself were interested in Mia. But I knew she was coming to her forever home with me. The first picture I saw of her:
We knew that adopting a senior meant a limited amount of time and a possibility of a lot of medical problems but Mia seemed to be as healthy and peppy as a 6 year old. She came to us with a bunch of lumps and bumps that we were told were benign. But now one of those lumps has mysteriously blown up (within a couple hours) and is likely malignant. We have been in and out of the vet 6 times in the last month. 3 of which were emergency vet visits for this. She’s been throwing up excessively, hasn’t eaten in almost 3 days, is very warm (despite not having a fever) and now has some swelling in her face and belly.
We wanted to give Mia the world, and we have… but now we have nothing left to give and need some help because I know this world is not yet done with Princess Mia. She is usually a spunky bundle of energy. She loves her toys- her favourite is Raf-the Giraffe- and playing fetch. She is calm and gentle with all the toddlers in my family and is so sweet. When we were at emergency she sensed a woman was heartbroken over her puppy’s diagnoses and went over to comfort her. I have spent all my savings to give her the best possible life she could have. She loves car rides and always perks up when we go through the drive through at Dunkin’ cause she knows she’s getting Bacon.
I have Taken her on adventures and feed her yummy homemade dinners because she deserves the world. This last week we have spent thousands on vet bills alone- blood work, urine analysis, emergency fees, ultrasound, and medication to ease her nausea, pain, and increase her appetite so she does not starve. But her surgery to remove the mass is estimated to be at least another $7k. We have given all we have. This year has been really hard on us and our family and we aren’t asking for ourselves. We are asking so Mia can get the surgery to remove the mass and save her life. She is strong. She has survived being a bait dog for a pit bull fighting ring as a puppy. She survived living in a garage after that. She survived being overlooked by hundreds of people for 5 years in a shelter. And she will survive this. She finally has the life she has always deserves and has found her forever family. But forever is not 8 months. Please help Mia. Even the smallest amount helps.
