6/26 **UPDATE**
Thank you to everyone who has sent their love and support for my sweet boy Potato.
I’m so incredibly shattered to share that Potato went into cardiac arrest and ultimately crossed that rainbow bridge last night at around 9:40pm. He fought so, so hard.
His dad and I are completely and utterly broken. I apologize if I am not very communicative in this time. In the most unexpected and traumatic way possible, I lost my best friend, my soul dog, the biggest light in my life, and frankly, I am not doing okay. I won’t be okay for a long time.
Thank you again for the support and love. I have really been shown such a beautiful side of humanity through this darkness, and I am very grateful to you all for showing me the best of people.
The donations received will still go to cover the cost Potato’s care while hospitalized. The debt, unfortunately, does not go away even if they weren’t able to save him. Any further help is greatly appreciated. Thank you all again for being so generous and kind.

Hi, my name is Madison, and I’m raising funds to help save my dog, Potato—my best friend, my constant companion, and the sweetest soul I’ve ever known.
On Monday morning, I came home from my overnight shift at the hospital to find Potato missing. After frantically searching, I found him collapsed in my closet, covered in blood. He had been attacked by my roommate’s 125lbs dog while I was at work, and he was suffering from severe bite wounds to his neck and hind legs, as well as signs of shock and neurological trauma.
I rushed him to an emergency vet, where they stabilized him, but due to the severity of his condition—including a possible spinal injury, an acute kidney injury, and dangerously low blood pressure—he was transferred to a specialty ICU hospital. He’s now receiving round-the-clock care, and while his condition is still critical, he’s now stable enough that they’re planning surgery soon to repair his wounds.
Potato is fighting so hard to stay here.
I’m doing everything I can to give him that chance.
So far, the cost of care is over $13,000 and rising.
• $2,000 at the first emergency vet
• $11,000+ at the ICU specialty hospital
• Surgery and further hospitalization are still ahead
I’m applying for CareCredit, but I can’t afford this alone. Any donation—no matter how small—will go directly to covering his medical care, surgery, and recovery. And if you can’t donate, simply sharing this would mean the world.
Potato is more than a pet. He’s my family, and my soul dog. He’s gentle, goofy, and loves nothing more than curling up next to the people he trusts. He didn’t deserve this. I just want to bring him home safe, and I can’t do that without help.
Thank you for reading, for caring, and for any contribution. It means more to me than words can express.
—Madison
