Update: Porter was diagnosed with telangiectatic osteosarcoma which is an extremely rare and aggressive bone cancer. It was a small lesion located in her knee but caused irreversible damage to her body that she couldn’t recover from. She passed peacefully on 4/23 with her mom and dad by her side.
Thank you for your support and donations. Any donations will go towards expenses incurred during her treatment which is greatly appreciated.
Porter was admitted to the ER with a high temperature and a platelet count of zero. Her gums were bleeding and she couldn't walk on her back right leg. After doing some tests, the doctors think it could be immune-mediate thrombocytopenia but are still not positive. Her body is attacking her own platelets which is resulting in internal bleeding. She has enlarge lymph nodes which they think could also be a sign of cancer but have been unable to test any of the masses in her body due to a risk of hemorrhaging. Her leg is now completely swollen and filling with blood and fluid. It's suspected that there is a mass in her leg. She is being administered chemotherapy to help increase her platelet counts in an attempt to stabilize her bleeding.
We are doing everything we can. Every test. Multiple blood transfusions and we still don't understand exactly why this is happening to her. We want to save our baby and give her every fighting chance to stay here with us. Anything you can donate to help save our baby girl and ease the financial burden of this fight is so appreciated. We love our Porky so much and we cannot fathom losing her. This is so unexpected and we are not ready to let her go.
