Hi friends, animal lovers, and kind souls —

We’re reaching out with heavy hearts and hopeful spirits to ask for help for our sweet girl, Pooka, a playful and loving pup who recently suffered a ruptured ligament in her knee. Wanting the best for her and trying to manage the costs, we took her to a vet in Tijuana, Mexico, for surgery that we were assured would fix the issue.

At first, it seemed like everything went smoothly. But within just three days of bringing her home, her sutures burst open. What we thought was the start of her recovery quickly turned into a nightmare. Pooka developed a serious infection due to the poor surgical care she received — and her leg has now become dangerously inflamed and painful.

We immediately sought out a trusted vet here in the San Diego to save her leg. She’s now undergoing proper care, but the cost of redoing the surgery, fighting the infection, and managing post-op treatment has skyrocketed.

Right now, her mom is facing over $13,000 in vet bills, and the number keeps rising.

We never imagined being in this position — emotionally and financially drained — but we’re doing everything we can to give Pooka the second chance she deserves.
