Help Save Pickles’ Life — Emergency Veterinary Care
This week, our beloved cat Pickles is fighting for his life.
Pickles suffered a complete (100%) urinary blockage, a medical emergency that is often fatal in male cats if not treated immediately. When a blockage occurs, toxins rapidly build up in the bloodstream, the bladder can rupture, and the condition can become life-threatening within 24–48 hours. Emergency catheterization and round-the-clock monitoring are the only ways to save a cat’s life in this situation.
Pickles underwent emergency veterinary intervention and, for a short time, seemed to improve. But devastatingly, he has now suffered a second full blockage, placing him right back in critical danger and requiring another emergency catheterization. Re-blockage is a known and serious risk with this condition, especially in the days following the initial crisis, which is why 24-hour hospitalization and continuous care are medically necessary.
Complicating matters further, an impending snowstorm may extend his hospital stay by several more days, increasing the cost of the lifesaving care he still urgently needs. His veterinary team has been wonderful, doing everything possible to stabilize him and give him the best chance to recover — but the expenses are mounting quickly. His medical bills are already nearing $2,000, and they continue to rise with each day of intensive care.
We are doing everything we can because Pickles is more than a cat — he is family.
Pickles’ story began before he ever came to us. As a tiny kitten, he was rescued by an elderly woman who found him injured in her garage, his front leg badly mangled. Despite rarely leaving her home, she made sure he got help, bringing him to a local rescue where his leg had to be amputated to save his life. After he healed, we met him — and fell in love instantly.
We named him Pickles after my daughter’s favorite food and his uncanny ability to get into trouble. Despite everything he’s endured, Pickles has the gentlest, most loving spirit. He adores children, plays fetch, demands belly rubs, and follows kids around like a shadow — earning him the nickname “Puppy Boy.”
Most importantly, Pickles is the best friend of my 8-year-old daughter, who loves him deeply and is anxiously waiting for him to come home.
We are asking for help because we want to give Pickles the chance he deserves — the chance to survive this crisis, recover, and return home to the little girl who loves him and the family who hasn’t given up on him.
Every dollar raised will go directly toward Pickles’ veterinary bills and lifesaving care. Any amount, any share, and any kindness means more than we can express.
Thank you for helping us fight for Pickles’ life.
