This is Pickle. I've worked in rescue for over a decade, and I rescued him and his 4 siblings from going to the shelter and most likely being euthanized in December of 2023. They were only two weeks old. Two of his siblings have been adopted, and I still have three of them.

Pickle is different. He was born with a lot of medical problems: spina bifida, prolapsed rectum, neurological issues, hernia, hydrocephalus, and deformities. He is the happiest dog in the world. He doesn’t think anything is wrong with him. He doesn’t need 24/7 care. He hasn’t needed ongoing medical treatment for his conditions. He can’t use his back legs but moves around fine. He just handles it.

On September 9th, 2025, I came home after work and went to say hi to Pickle and his brothers. Usually, when I walk in, Pickle starts barking and hopping around like crazy. He didn’t do that. I noticed immediately that his leg was wrapped up extremely tight in a blanket. I immediately got the blanket off, but the damage seemed to be done. His leg was completely swollen and dark red. He wasn’t acting like himself. He can’t feel the lower half of his body, so he’s not in any pain, but the swelling is getting worse. His whole leg is double the size. I don’t know how long his leg was wrapped up for. Nothing like this has ever happened. I take great care of all 7 of my dogs. They are my life. This was a freak accident.

I don’t have the money to take him to the vet. I don’t even have money to bring him in to get an exam. We don’t make much doing what I do; every last penny goes to the dogs. I maxed out my care credit when my other dog needed surgery to remove cancer. I need help. I don’t want him to die, and it’s very possible that he could if I don’t get him to the vet as soon as possible. I’ve spent over ten years dedicating myself to helping people and animals. This time, I need people to help me. Anything helps. Pickle is worth every penny. He deserves a chance to find a home and live a happy life. Thank you so much in advance.
