‼️PENNY UPDATE‼️
Penny had a successful surgery. Dr. Morgan needs to keep her overnight to make sure that she has a good beginning to her healing process. He stated that he was very satisfied with how aggressive he was and believes he got everything out of there. Her borders are believed to be clean and good however we’re sending that to the pathologist to see what we’re dealing with. This surgery CANNOT be repeated a third time. The first round was stage three we just need to be sure that this has not upgraded. Upon viewing her chest, a ping-pong ball sized spot was spotted on her lung. This can happen as a dog ages or it can be because her cancer has spread. We plan to do a follow up x-ray in about two weeks. Her abdominal x-ray looked beautiful. Her blood work was to be expected and overall very good for the large tumor she had growing on her back. Dr. Morgan is hopeful we can get more time with Penny and she can be more comfortable while having the full understanding that this may come back and it may be even more aggressive than the second round. Keep my girl in your thoughts. She is spending the night at the vet and waking up slowly from her anesthesia at this time.

My name is Tiffany. I’m a proud pet owner and will do any and everything I can for my girls. This is Penelope, aka Penny. She is my first pit mix and my second pound rescue. She was a Christmas present for my son (but mostly a present for myself because I wanted to be a dog guardian again) when he was three years old and she was around 12 weeks old. He is 15 now. Penny has been such a goofy girl for the entirety I’ve had her.
In June, I was admitted into the hospital after the birth of my daughter. I was admitted due to heart failure and stayed two nights. Once I arrived home, I noticed a lump on Penny's hip. I quickly made arrangements with a local vet to have the lump removed and sent to the lab. The vet did not send her home with antibiotics, anti-inflammatories, or anything for pain management. I ended up having to rush her to a vet 45 minutes away three days after her surgery and less than a week after I had given birth because it appeared infection had set up in her massive tumor site and she had busted her stitches. The emergency vet stitched her back up and sent her home with all the medications she should have been provided by the previous vet.
Fast forward about a week... I’m rushing Penny back to the second vet due to her skin dying at the incision site. They ended up pulling the dead skin off, revealing healthy new skin. This gave us hope that she would not have further issues since the wound was now healing beautifully and she was still her perky self. The first vet called and let us know it was stage 3 cancer and they believed they got it all, but she was at a 60% chance of developing another lump.
Fast forward to present time, she has in fact developed a grapefruit-sized lump that is pulling her skin so tight. I’ve made an emergency vet visit with the second vet who has moved into my county. Her appointment is first thing 11/1. I’m concerned by how expensive her first round was and am still making payments on that. I am asking for any help at all. If you cannot donate, please share and help me try to save my sweet pittie girl.
I plan on using funds to pay for previous and upcoming vet bills.
