In Honor of our Spooky Rescue Girl, Turu

Update 4/28/24 9pm
Thank you all so much for the support. I truly believe that Turu was send to us to help teach a lesson and to create the opportunity to help save more Mexican kitties. Any funds leftover from this fundraiser that we don't use for her final vet bill will be used to set up Team Turu, a rescue organization in her name. We'll be able to help dozens more cats like her with the funding.

Update 4/26/24 6:25am
Friends, Turu just passed away peacefully with the help of expert veterinarians, surrounded by people who love her. ❤️ Karla, Fernanda and I did everything we could to give this sweet girl a chance at life after being rescued from a terrible, neglectful situation. Despite the abuse she received at the hands of humans, Turu was still the sweetest girl who loves head scritches and laying in the sunshine.

Medically, there was a lot going wrong. Through fundraising, we were able to take her to an excellent animal hospital and do all the extensive testing available in order to solve this mystery. So thank you, so much, for helping us afford her care. At the animal hospital, the vets discovered an inoperable cancerous tumor in her jaw and cranium. That was the cause of her head tilt and of so much pain. Collectively we decided it was time to help Turu pass over the rainbow bridge.

We’re absolutely gutted so I might be a bit quiet on social media for a few days but stay tuned for more information about how we plan to use the remaining money raised for Turu. There are thousands of animals just like her suffering on the streets in Mexico, and we think Turu was sent to us as a catalyst for change. We want to use the money raised to save other helpless animals in honor of Turu. She would have wanted that.

Hi I'm Rachelle, and I'm raising funds for the emergency veterinary care for my Mexican foster cat, Turu.

Turu was rescued from a neglectful situation by two angels, Karla and Fernanda, who are sponsoring her care. But the cost for her hospitalization is a lot for a small rescue to handle, so we're asking people to help. In Mexico City, where I'm caring for Turu, the US dollar is strong. I think $1,500 USD will pay for her overnight hospitalization and treatment for 2 weeks.

Turu has a mouth infection that we believe has reached her ear. She has a head tilt, and possibly neurological issues. She's emaciated, cannot eat much on her own, and is a hot mess. That being said she's incredibly sweet and we can tell she's a fighter. At an estimates 2-7 years old, we want to give her a chance to live a long, healthy life.

Thank you for considering donating to her care!
