Hello. I am writing on behalf of our sweet and most loving cat, Simon. Simon has been a loving and calming presence in our lives for the last 11 years. He's there in the window when we arrive home and waits for us when we go to sleep. There is not a human or animal who doesn't instantly fall in love with him.

Recently, Simon's left eye has become distorted, bulgy and is chronically red and watery. Now, we only see him with tears in his eye or rolling down his face. His discomfort has started to affect his eating habits and he has begun pain medication while he awaits his surgery date, which couldn't come fast enough.

After six unique veterinary visits, we have found help. Simon has been diagnosed with a retrobulbar orbital mass. That means that he has a tumor, a very large tumor, behind his left eye. We decided to proceed with testing and get the CT scan and biopsy of the mass and agreed that we would do what we could to help him and figure out the money later as time is of the essence. His biopsy results came back inconclusive because the tumor was so difficult to access. If we do nothing, the mass could eventually break through bone and render him unable to eat. His life is at stake.

As it turns out, he is an excellent candidate for surgery as he is otherwise healthy. There is another option to give him steroids long term, 6 - 12 months, but our veterinarian advised us that the tumor would return once the steroids are discontinued and the steroids would leave him with significant kidney or liver damage, or both. We have decided to go through with surgery in which he is set to have his eye and tumor removed. They are unable to save the eye and removing it would save his life.

The surgery, tests and veterinary visits will end up costing between $8,000 - $9,000. My partner and I have been looking additional opportunities to earn the money to be able to pay these bills. We are committed to helping him as he is family. He completes our family. I wish we didn't have to do this at all, it's all so sad, but we can save his life with this surgery.
