For 18 years our sheep sanctuary has kept going through sheer determination, love, and sacrifice. Sadly, the last few years have become harder than I ever imagined.
I have been using my own life savings — money that was meant for my pension years — just to keep the sanctuary running. Now those savings are almost gone.
This winter has been especially devastating. Hay prices have doubled, and I’m now spending around £180 per day on hay alone, before straw and hard feed. Because of shortages, the quality of hay available isn’t great, which means the sheep are losing weight and need additional supplements. My feed bill alone has risen to over £500 per week.
On top of this, I am now managing the sanctuary almost entirely alone after a very difficult personal situation, which has also left me dealing with financial complications that were not of my making. The physical and mental strain has been overwhelming, but I am still here every day for the sheep.
I have sold everything I could to raise funds, including stock I had planned to sell for income, but it has only covered a few weeks of feed.
I hate asking for help, but I truly have no choice now.
If I cannot get through the rest of this winter and into summer, I may be forced to sell up and downsize — something that would break my heart after putting so many years into creating a safe haven for these animals.
If you are able to donate, share, or support in any way, it would mean the world to us. Every contribution helps keep the sheep fed, warm, and safe.
Thank you for caring, and thank you for being part of our journey ❤️
