Hello friends,
My name is Elizabeth Gentry and I am the Director of a Chattanooga Non-Profit called The Unmarried Wife Ministry.
We are a women’s-based outreach ministry that is passionate about giving women a safe space to recover and heal. We host a variety of programs but we are coming to you today to ask for your help with one specific part of our ministry: The Evermore House.
We are currently in the process of opening a Safe House for women and children in the Chattanooga area— something that is both vitally needed and deeply impactful.
Our heart in all of our ministry has been inclusion, which is why the hallmark of our Safe House encompasses just that: we have no requirements on the background of the woman attending. This means that whether she is coming from homelessness, addiction recovery, domestic violence, or if she is just a regular woman who is down on her luck, in need of a helping hand, ANYONE can find a home with us.
Just DAYS away from our first scheduled move-in’s, burdened down under the weight the tremendous cold front moving through the Chattanooga area, the HVAC unit completely went out, meaning that we had no way to heat or cool the house.
Without the ability to keep the house, and therefore the pipes, adequately warm, our water froze today.
With the HVAC needing a total replacement AND with the damages associated with frozen pipes, our endeavor to be the change has effectively been crippled: stopped dead in its tracks.
There are THOUSANDS of dollars of work that need to be done IMMEDIATELY so that other problems don’t arise, and we, quite literally, cannot do this without our community.
Because we were closing in on the end of our renovations, our budget is almost completely gone. Without the support of our friends and family, this house will not open.
Our inboxes are FULL of applicants waiting to enter the house… most of them pregnant and homeless. We are pleading with our community to come and support, and to do so quickly so that we are not turning these women and these children away into the cold.
We are asking for help fundraising $10,000 to help take care of these problems, and although that won’t cover all of our needs, it should help us get to a point where we can move people in.
This is an emergency situation, meaning that time is absolutely of the essence. Beyond the fact that we have pregnant women waiting to get in, the severity of the problems at hand will only get worse as time goes on.
We NEED help and we are pleading with you to consider donating to our cause and donating to the future of these women. Every donation, be it $5 or $10 or $20 will be prayed over and praised over.
Please help us provide permanent change to the lives of women and children everywhere. Please give and please share with everyone you know.
