My name is Rikki and I am the Education Program Manager at the African Refugee Development Center (ARDC) located in south Tel Aviv, Israel. We are a non-profit orginization working hard to assist the refugee community in Israel since 2004. I have been working for the organization for nearly a year, and have seen first hand what a crucial service the ARDC provides to the refugee community in Israel.
Our reception is a walk-in center where refugees can come with questions, issues, requests, concerns, or anything they may need help with. Our dedicated team of volunteers is there to support the refugees. Our reception is also used as an education space. Refugee students come to recieve tutoring, take exams, use computers, and study.
The reception center is currently located within the heart of Tel Aviv's refugee community, making it accesible to women with children, people with disabilities, and those who have full time jobs that don't have much time to travel.
Unfortunately our funding was recently cut and we are not able to afford the rent to keep this space open. We need to raise 5000 dollars within the next month in order to keep our doors open for another year. Losing this space would be devastating to us, the refugees feel this is a place they can call home.
