Help save our fur baby, Toffee

We’re the Panko Family and we have had a TOUGH couple months but this is by far the worst

Our 3 year old English Bulldog Toffee was attacked by our rescue dog we got 2 years ago.

Nutella attacked toffee in a 30 min span while we were getting groceries at Walmart. They were inside and fine right before we left. I let them in the backyard for the 30 min we were gone and I went straight to the backyard to let them in when we got back home.

As I walked outside I couldn’t see toffee anywhere and she usually runs right in. So I went outside to call her.

She was on the side of our house in a pile of snow COVERED in blood. I thought she was dead. I panicked, screamed and ran the kids into their rooms and told them to stay there. I ran to David who was using the restroom bawling saying I think toffees dead and we bolted to the backyard. Nutella ran into a corner knowing she did wrong and we were screaming at her. David called Melissa my SIL and she rushed over to help us.

We got toffee wrapped in 2 blankets and a towel to try and stop the bleeding. Both her ears were falling off and she had puncture wounds, blood, gapes and bites all over her.

I called vets all over to see if someone could come to our aid since she was bleeding to death and dying but no emergency vets go to homes. They told us to call Washoe County Animal Control. So we did. They agreed to come pick up Nutella, this aggressive attack could have been one out our children. But said they could not help toffee. So we risked her bleeding more to get Toffee into our car and take her to the emergency vet.

We made it to the vet and the Dr goes on to tell us they have to give her an IV, sew her ears up, flush all the wounds, get her bandages, start fluids and antibiotics and then would need therapy… so we ask how much. He estimated about $1500. And I asked if they do payment plans, I was just diagnosed with a tumor a month ago, as most of my friends and family knows and my husband is working nights just to pay bills and we don’t even have our phones on… but he said no and that the deposit to even START to fix her would be $1000…. So he had us apply for Care Credit and we were denied… So if I can’t come up with a grand by tonight, they are just going to flush her wounds and send her home to die with us

My heart can’t take this, our children are shattered. Not a great time for this to EVER happen but for this to be on our children’s minds so near to Christmas is heartbreaking
