A Place for Hope:
Contribute to Medical Funds for our Dad - Vien Long

On July 22nd, our father — just 67 years old — suffered a massive heart attack that left him in a deep coma. Due to a lack of oxygen to the brain during the attack, doctors have told us he suffered significant brain damage. As of now, he remains unresponsive.

The hospital in Cambodia, where he lives, couldn’t provide the critical care he urgently needed, so we had to transfer him to a hospital in Vietnam. Thankfully, the doctors there found a small sign of brain activity, which gives us hope — but the outcome remains uncertain. He may stay in this coma for weeks or even months, and we still don’t know if or when he will wake up, and what condition he will be in if he does wake up.

Our dad has always been healthy and active, and this sudden medical crisis has turned our lives upside down. We left everything behind in the U.S. — our jobs, our responsibilities — to be here with him and our mom.

The outpouring of love and symapthies from family and friends has been tremendous and such a life support and we could not be more greatful. We know many of you have reached out asking how you can help. The reality is, the cost of the medical care here is a huge financial burden on our family. Here in Vietnam, my dad does not have health insurance as he is a foreigner and we moved him from Cambodia where they could not give him the care he needs.

So for those who want to help, this fundraiser would be the most direct way that would benefit our dad and our family the most. If you’re able to contribute, we would be extremely grateful. And if you’re not in a position to give right now, we completely understand — we only ask that you consider sharing this post with your network. Every bit of awareness helps.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for the love, the prayers, and the kindness so many of you have already shown. Your support — in any form — gives us strength during the most difficult time of our lives.

With deep gratitude,
The Long Family
