Help Save Our Family Home

Hi everyone,

I’m starting this fundraiser for my mom and my younger brothers, who are facing the possible loss of the only home and school community they have ever known.

My brothers live in this home with our mom here in New Hampshire. They attend the local school district and have an incredible support system there, including teachers, counselors, and an IEP program that has helped them grow and thrive throughout the years. This stability has been life-changing for them, and it’s something we are desperately trying to protect.

My mom works overnight shifts and is currently one of only two employees at her job due to severe understaffing. She continues to show up every night despite being physically and emotionally exhausted, doing everything she can to keep food on the table and a roof over her kids’ heads. She is the sole breadwinner for the household and is responsible for all other expenses, including utilities, food, and daily living costs. The burnout from working nonstop while carrying this crisis has been overwhelming, and at times she’s felt completely helpless, even though she hasn’t stopped trying.

In addition to everything else, my mom has been putting off necessary surgery for a uterine fibroid that has continued to grow, simply because she cannot afford to take time off work. With no one else able to step in financially, she has been forced to prioritize working every shift over her own health.

The mortgage fell behind after their dad stopped making the mortgage payments he had agreed to cover as child support after leaving the family. Those payments stopped suddenly and without discussion. As a result, my mom is now facing an emergency foreclosure. She is actively working with housing counselors and legal resources, but those processes take time. Time that we don’t have much of right now.

What makes this especially heartbreaking is that this is the only home and school district my brothers have ever known. The thought of losing not just their house, but their friends, teachers, routines, and support system has been incredibly hard on them.

Around the holidays, when kids are usually wishing for toys or games, my brothers wrote something very different. On their Christmas Wishlist and New Year’s resolutions, they wrote that their biggest wish was simply to stay in their home. They’ve shared that they don’t want to move. They don’t want to lose their friends. They just want to stay where they feel safe and supported.

Any funds raised will go directly toward emergency foreclosure prevention, including:

  • Catch-up mortgage-related costs

  • Legal and housing stabilization expenses

  • Fees required to pause or stop the foreclosure process

This is not a long-term request, it’s a plea for temporary help to keep a roof over their heads while protections are put in place.

If you’re able to donate, share, or keep our family in your thoughts, it truly means more than words can say. Even the smallest contribution helps buy time and stability for two kids who just want to stay in the place they call home.

Thank you so much for reading and for any support you’re able to give.
