Time Is Running Out - Help Save Lanre’s Life Today
From Australia to Nigeria, our family is fighting to save the man who means everything to us.

Our beloved father, Olugbemiga Olanrewaju Bolarinwa, also known to many as Lanre, has been fighting for his life over the last six months. We are now in a race against time to bring him back to Australia for the urgent specialist care he needs to survive.

The Situation
In July 2025, after two days of no contact, our father was found unconscious and barely breathing. He had been deprived of oxygen for almost 48 hours, and it was a miracle that he survived.

He has been hospitalised ever since then, and in the span of one month, he was moved four times between three different hospitals due to unending doctors’ strike, lack of specialist care, and inadequate resources/facilities. In September, his condition deteriorated to the point where he was comatose and completely unresponsive. His condition is just stabilising but he remains non-verbal, vague consciousness, and little to no mobility. He requires full-time and round-the-clock care as he requires lots of support for all his medical needs.

Current Diagnosis
Lanre’s diagnoses include:
  • Malignant Catatonia
  • Multiple non-disabling strokes
  • Post-stroke depression
  • Chronic upper limb venous thrombosis
  • Possible Encephalitis

We Need to Urgently Bring Him Back Home
Our family has been living in Australia for over 20 years. It is our home and where we are most familiar. Currently, he is stranded in the Nigerian public medical system, which cannot effectively and efficiently provide the care that he needs. Doctors have strongly recommended immediate medical evacuation back to Australia which has the capacity to treat his medical conditions.

The Cost of Saving His Life
We have depleted our savings, taking loans and are now living paycheck-to-paycheck to cover his current medical bills. A medical evacuation flight with ICU support from Lagos, Nigeria to Melbourne, Australia has been quoted at over AUD $350,000, depending on aircraft availability, medical team, and his condition at the time of medical transfer. This is completely beyond our means, and our family cannot afford this alone as we are financially stretched past our limits, whilst I am here in Nigeria with our dad, taking care of him.

Our attempts have been met with roadblocks, as we have explored all avenues and possibilities to bring him back with no success by:
  • Contacting the Australian Consulate and Embassy
  • Applying for early release of Superannuation
  • Researching alternative medical transfer options to the UK.

Why We’re Asking for Help
We are reaching out to friends, family, acquaintances, and community members as well as to all kind-hearted people to help us in our time of need. To those who know us, those who know our father, and those who believe in the power of compassion, we need your urgent financial help to bring our father home.

What Your Donation Will Support
Your contribution will go directly toward:
  • Medical treatments in Nigeria
  • Emergency travel documentation and expenses
  • Medical transport back to Australia
  • Ground ambulance and transfers
  • Ongoing treatment and rehabilitation in Australia
  • Medications and allied/specialist care

Please Help Us Save Our Dad’s
Time is of the essence, and every day here in Nigeria delays and hinders his chances of full recovery. Please donate whatever you can and share this campaign within your networks. We are now relying on your kind generosity to help us bring our father home to reunite with our family and get him access to the care he desperately needs.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you.

With love and gratitude,
Bolarinwa Family
