But like many fitness studios and gyms in Canada, he experienced an unfortunate turn of events in 2020 from the Covid-19 pandemic that caused a tragic ripple effect. With provincial rules and regulations constantly changing, he has been mandated THREE times to close studio doors to the public and not run any classes for most of 2020 and all of 2021 thus far.
No one expected this to happen. The fitness industry went down drastically and along with it, the mental health of just about all of us. As many of you now go through the motions of virtual classes in your homes, it's still quite far from an in-studio experience where you once shared the floor, the vibe and the culture of a group fitness class. Fitness is an extremely essential part of our well being. The reason many of us come to a group fitness setting is to be a part of a community, enjoy the dynamic structure of a class lead by a great instructor, and enjoy bonding and being a part of a culture past the four walls at home or the office. Group fitness is different than an individual training session at the gym. It's an experience where we can get away from our daily grind and out of our heads and into our bodies. It's where energy is sparked by many bodies sharing a common goal to strive in towards optimal health and well-being.
It can be lonely and daunting to witness the hardships and obligations of a business owner from behind the scenes. It's quite a different path than the typical corporate or hourly job many of us live and navigate through. Investing heavily to build a business from scratch takes a lot of dedication, time, and energy. We work around the clock to make this studio a stellar one for you. No matter what worldly events occur, a business owner takes a lot of risk and responsibility, and at times, puts everything on the line to support the well being of the business. Seeing my husband struggle, sacrifice, and go through a lot of stress these past few months as he uses his savings to pay for the lease and overhead fees month after month, in hopes to one day reopen is devastating.
But with great commitment and vision for this community, he hopes to continue this family-owned business for you to come back to and experience fitness together once more! But he cannot do it without the help from you. To re-create Spin+Yin while following proper Covid-safety protocol, the studio needs the support of its members, its fitness community, and those who love and support local businesses, so we can all recreate that experience.
In order to keep the brand alive and be able to run virtual classes, Spin+Yin asks for your contribution to assist with expenses in hopes to reopen in the future. 2020 was quite a shock with the unfortunate turn of events that we all witnessed and experienced. Our team loves what they do and want to continue investing time, love, energy to keep this community alive.
Anything donated is truly a blessing and we are very grateful.
