Southchurch Park Pre-School is a charity-run setting at the heart of our community. Our church hall is closing, and without urgent support we risk losing a safe, nurturing space for local children. We are staying in Southend-on-Sea and creating a new home built around curiosity, play, and care — but we need help to make this move possible.

For over 57 years, our charity-run, family-led preschool has been a safe, nurturing place for children and families in our community. We currently support 50 children and have proudly served generations of local families.

Our preschool is truly family run — led by a mother as Manager, alongside her daughter as Deputy Manager and SENDCO. Together, with our dedicated team of 7, we are deeply committed to providing high-quality early years care built on trust, consistency, and strong relationships with families.

We support local children from all backgrounds, including children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), ensuring every child feels included, valued, and supported to reach their full potential.

Sadly, we was facing possible closure — not due to lack of demand or dedication, but because the church hall we currently rent is closing due to being in a poor state of repair.

After months of searching, we have been incredibly fortunate to secure a new building so we can continue running and supporting our community. However, this move comes with significant unexpected costs that we cannot meet alone.

While we are incredibly grateful to have secured a new premises, the cost of renting the building is significantly higher, then what we previously paid and we also need to fund:

Moving costs (vans and transport)

Rubbish and disposal costs

New furniture and equipment suitable for early years children, as our current furniture is large and bulky and our new premises is smaller and will need furniture to be more practical so they can be moved and stored easily.

The outdoor garden area will need a thorough deep clean and refresh, including painting and improvements, to ensure it is a safe, stimulating, and welcoming space for the children.

As a small charity preschool, every penny we receive goes directly back into caring for the children. Without fundraising support, we may not be able to make this move — which would mean the loss of a preschool that has supported families for over five decades.

We are asking for help to ensure our doors remain open and our children can continue learning in a safe, familiar, and loving environment.
