We never imagined we’d be in this situation, but our sweet boy Shadow, who is only 5 years old, desperately needs help.

Shadow has been struggling with urinary blockages, a painful and life-threatening condition that male cats can get. Over the past couple of weeks, we’ve rushed him to the vet multiple times:

• The first time, Shadow was unblocked, but sadly the problem returned.

• The second time, he had to stay with a catheter for 3 days. We were hopeful, but after bringing him home, he blocked again.

• We rushed him to the ER, where they recommended keeping him hospitalized with a catheter. The cost was $3,000–$4,000, which we simply could not afford since we’re still paying off large bills for another one of our cats who recently got sick. We were only able to afford having him unblocked that night.

This morning, Shadow blocked again. He’s in pain, and our hearts are breaking.

The vets have also told us about a possible surgery called a Perineal Urethrostomy (PU), which could help prevent this from happening again. But that surgery costs $6,000–$8,000, and right now it feels impossible for us to afford on our own.

We are exhausted, stressed, and devastated. This condition is fatal if left untreated, and we just want to give Shadow a chance at life.
