Hello to our friends, families and anyone else willing to read this,

Recently our sweet baby boy, Chip, has suddenly become very, very ill. Since Friday, Feb 13, we have spent almost $8000 in diagnostics including blood work, urine samples, radiology and also various medications to try and treat his symptoms. Unfortunately our journey is not yet over. He is currently very anemic, jaundice and has a belly full of fluid. He is needing more diagnostic work ups that we have been completely priced out of at this time. As well as additional treatment. 

He has suspected Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP) which is a rare but life-threatening disease caused by a mutated feline coronavirus that triggers a harmful immune response. It is super rare, but more common in young, male cats. It causes a variety of symptoms, which makes it difficult to diagnose. Until recently, FIP was almost always considered fatal. Fortunately, recent treatments have seriously improved outcomes for affected cats. So luckily there is treatment available, albeit super costly and the medications are hard to find as they're not as common and readily available. We still don’t have an absolute diagnosis that this is what he has, but we are at a loss of where to go from here after such a costly short period of time. 

We are reaching a point of feeling overwhelmed by the costs trying to diagnose and save this sweet angel baby, but we do want to try our best to save him. And the good news is, the vet thinks we can treat him if it is FIP and give him a healthy, long, and happy life ahead. So we decided to finally set up a GoFundChip and humbly ask for help during this trying and terrifying time.

Chip is a 3.5 year old male tabby cat. He has been well loved, cared for and kept inside and safe since I adopted him the summer of 2023. He was also an indoor cat with his previous owners. He has had no prior health issues at all aside from minor eye infections etc. He is adored by anyone who has met him and the best big brother to his little sister, Oreo, little brother to doggy, Barley, and his human, Parker. He is truly the sweetest, cuddliest and best boy ever. He is so young and can have so much life left to live if we can only support this ongoing diagnostic and treatment nightmare.

Our hearts are shattered and our wallets are burdened but we want to do whatever possible to help keep euthanization off the table, and to get our boy home and healthy. Especially with his young age, no prior health issues, and positive prognosis with treatment.

The funds will be used to help cover the cost already paid, around $8000 in less than 2 weeks, as well as future costs as we navigate additional potential diagnostic work and treatment so that we can keep giving him the medical care he deserves.
