My little buddy Osiris (Scottish Terrier) has had a string of bad luck with his health over the last few weeks that has led to extremely high veterinary bills with several emergency medical visits. He's currently fighting a necrosis-causing infection on his foot that we're trying to control so that the infection doesn't spread into the rest of his body. We're also trying to avoid amputation of his foot or leg, which would be the next line of defense to stop the spread if the infection is not properly managed at the present time. We have been going to the vet every three days for wound redressing, examination, testing, and antibiotic adjustments to stabilize an extremely aggressive wound that has opened into a very large infection (necrosis) crater in his left rear foot pad that he walks on.

About three weeks ago, Osiris had a life-threatening emergency with extreme breathing difficulty that required emergency care to clear his airways. He's now on medication that has been extremely helpful keeping his airways clear and managing those symptoms. Two weeks later, he developed this aggressive foot infection that we're now trying to control, which has also required multiple emergency visits to the animal hospital for testing and wound treatment.

The good news is that aside from these scary health issues, the vets have told us Osiris has many years ahead of him. But we really need to get this infection controlled and get necessary testing to make sure there aren't other complications, like a foreign body making this worse or some type of cancer.

Throughout working towards my doctorate and into my post-doctoral studies, Osiris has been with me offering support and sharing daily walks together, and truly I don't know how I would have made it through without him. Now, I've passed my first and studying to take my second and final licensure exam in Clinical Psychology in the very near future, which has been a struggle, but I'm nearing the finish line in literal weeks and am barely making ends meet doing delivery work right now. Nonetheless, I want to be there for Osiris like he has been there for me and celebrate a double victory together, with getting licensed and him making a full recovery related to this medical crisis. I've never created a fundraiser before and wouldn't be asking for help if this wasn't a serious emergency.

Whether you donate $500, $50, or $5, every bit helps and Osiris and I would be grateful beyond measure. Time is of the essence. I am desperate to help Osiris right now, but I simply don’t have the financial resources. These bills are adding up and I refuse to give up on him.

We've had five emergency visits in the last three weeks and we'll have several more visits every three days until the wound care is complete and we can get testing for other potential issues related to the wound, along with medication maintenance until he's stabilized and healed.

I want to emphasize that we have many years of life to look forward to together if we can get Osiris the ongoing medical care he needs immediately. This means getting on top of this horrific infection so his body isn't further attacked and so he doesn't lose a limb as the next line of defense against it spreading.
