Dear friends, family, and animal lovers,
We find ourselves reaching out to you in a time of great need as our two year old cat, Oreo, faces a health crisis. Oreo is more than just a cat. We rescued him about a year and a half ago as a companion for our first, Tootsie. He’s made us laugh, comforted us, and has provided endless “butt-hugs.”
As of January 4, 2024, Oreo was diagnosed with a urinary blockage, which is inevitably toxic to the blood. This serious medical condition requires urgent attention and extensive treatment. As any pet owner can understand, the emotional toll of seeing our beloved pet in pain is immeasurable. We’re determined to provide Oreo with the best care possible, but unfortunately, the mounting medical bills have become an overwhelming burden.
In our pursuit to ensure Oreo gets the best treatment he deserves, we are humbly reaching out for your support. Every contribution, no matter how small, will make a significant impact on Oreo’s journey to recovery. Your generosity will go directly towards vet bills, prescription food, medications and any necessary procedures to give Oreo a fighting chance at a full and comfortable life.
We understand that times are tough for everyone, but if you could find it in your hearts to contribute or share our link it would mean the world to us. Oreo has brought so much love and warmth into our busy lives, and we believe that with the support of our community, we can help him overcome this health challenge.
Thank you for taking the time to read our story and considering a donation. Your kindness and compassion during this difficult time will not be forgotten.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Kyle, Jori, and Oreo
Update 01/07/24: Oreo has been hospitalized at Mission Animal Hospital. He will have a catheter in place until the surgeon is available to give him PU surgery. At this time we are unsure of a set plan but hoping he is resilient enough to make it to surgery. If surgery works for Oreo, post-op will last for about a month until he is considered fully recovered. Mission has been great at helping us with a payment plan. A sudden, unfortunate occurrence such as this one is hard to plan for financially but Mission has tiered pricing for household income which has made us hopeful that Oreo will get the treatment he deserves. I’ll follow up with an update after the next couple of days. Thank you for your prayers, shares, and donations, all of this has made Oreo’s survival a possibility.
Update 01/12/2024: Oreo had his PU surgery Tuesday morning (01/09). Upon bringing him home, he was able to urinate, get lots of sleep, eat A LOT of food, and receive so much love and attention from Kyle and I. We struggled with him the first couple of nights as we were thrown into post-op care with little explanation. There have been many phone calls with his surgeon and he was even cleaned up a bit (01/11). Oreo has not wanted to urinate or drink water about 3 days into being at home. Fortunately, Oreo’s surgeon has been good at emailing us quickly and told us to mix a handful of his old litter with the paper pellet litter. This trick worked like a charm and he immediately wanted to use his litter box. As of now he is getting lots of rest and supervised time outside of his dog kennel. We have been so blessed to have each and every one of you in our corner. Hopefully his next update will be just as positive as this one!
