This is my bird, Opal, a tiny parrotlet. My bird daughter, my muse, my familiar, my companion. She’s sweet, she’s sassy, she naps on my shoulder, I love her to bits. I’m terrified of losing her.

Unfortunately, recently Opal recently became eggnant (no babies, just egg) which on it’s own is not a problem but…she never laid it. Recently i learned from a vet appointment that the egg is compacted and stuck in her uterus.

This egg is currently a ticking time bomb inside of Opal. It can’t stay in her or else it will rot and make her sick and kill her. So the only option is an unfortunately high-risk surgery to remove it.

Opal is a very tiny bird, which is what makes any surgery very risky, anesthesia alone could kill her. But I trust my vet knows best and if there is a chance I’m willing to take it if it will save Opal’s life.

But of course, surgery is costly so I am asking for your help. My normal industry of Animation has been in a bad place for a while now and I haven’t had work in a few years. I currently work part-time food service, run an Etsy shop and take some commissions to make end’s meet. I do not have enough saved up to afford the surgery.

So, if you know me, have enjoyed my art, have met Opal in-person or through photos I’ve posted online or in discord servers, I would appreciate any help you can give if you can spare it <333
