Help Save Ollie's Life

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Claire, and my 5-year-old dog, Oliver, is currently fighting for his life in the ICU.

Our nightmare began on February 1st, when Ollie was rushed to the emergency vet with sudden vomiting and lethargy. Despite initial efforts to treat him at home, his condition rapidly deteriorated. By the next morning, he was showing signs of jaundice and was in visible distress. We took him to our regular vet at Balmy Beach Pet Hospital, where blood work revealed Ollie’s liver was in acute failure. His liver enzymes (ALT) were so high they were off the charts, and he had lost control of his basic bodily functions.

Ollie was immediately transferred to the Emergency Veterinary Clinic in downtown Toronto for 24-hour specialist care.

The internal medicine specialists believe Ollie ingested an unidentified, fast-acting toxin. While we don't know exactly how or where this happened, the impact has been devastating. As of February 3rd, his ALT levels reached 6800 (over 50 times the normal limit).
Ollie has been in the ICU receiving constant IV fluids, a cocktail of medications to stabilize his liver, and has already undergone two plasma transfusions to address critically low blood-clotting factors. He is also currently battling a stomach ulcer and vomiting blood, requiring even more intensive intervention.

There is some good news: his most recent blood work showed his ALT levels beginning to drop. He is a fighter, but he has a very long road ahead of him.

If you know me, you know that Ollie is my best friend. At only 5 years old, he still has so much life and love to give. I am committed to giving him every possible chance to recover, but the cost of life-saving ICU care is immense.

Between the initial emergency visits, specialist consultations, and ongoing ICU treatments, we are currently facing a minimum of $15,000 in medical bills.

I am reaching out to ask for your help in funding Ollie’s fight. Any donation, no matter the size, will go directly toward his veterinary expenses and give him the time he needs to heal. If you aren't able to donate, please consider sharing Ollie's story.

With heartfelt thanks,

Claire & Ollie
