This GoFundMe page is being hosted on behalf of Olie the Mustang and his current caretaker, Jessica.

Tragedy struck on New Year’s Day when Jessica‘s mother, Olie’s owner, suddenly passed away. Jessica, a single mother, is currently working alone to clean out her mother’s home and settle the estate. While a will existed, no trust had ever been put into place, leaving finances tied for the next 6 to 8 months.

Which brings us to Olie. Olie is an 18-year-old BLM mustang. Jessica’s mother had raised him from the time he was a baby. He’s been trained in dressage and has been doted on his whole life. The place where he was living had him in the pasture, however the diet of grasses in the pasture has caused him to contract laminitis. With no money currently coming from Jessica’s mom, Olie’s stable wanted him gone.

Then the stable began to harass Jessica daily, suggesting that she should euthanize him due to his laminitis, if she cannot find a new home. He’s a very gentle, sweet, beautiful guy. And while he is in pain from laminitis, he’s also grieving for the one person who had always been a constant in his life. Who was always spending time with him. Bringing him apples and carrots. Grooming him and walking with him. Then, his person just stopped coming. For two months. And he has no idea why. He needs to be stabled and fed a proper diet. He needs vet care for his laminitis. And he needs attention, so that he can get better. And then when he’s better, we need to find him a new home with someone who is able to love, understand, and take care of him.

Jessica has managed to scrape together enough money for one month at a stable that he’s stayed at before. But we need to put together enough money so that he can stay there and get the care that he needs from a vet. Until the probate is settled, Jessica can’t access any of the funds that her mother has set aside for the care of Olie. Jessica has her own child to support, and the overwhelming job of settling her mother’s estate doesn’t pay anything. She’s barely getting by. Any contribution would be appreciated.
