Help Save Ohana — Our Family Needs Her
We never imagined we would be in a position to create a GoFundMe, but right now, we are facing one of the most heartbreaking and urgent moments of our lives.
Our sweet girl, Ohana, is fighting for her life.
Ohana is almost 6 years old and more than just a dog—she is our family, our comfort, our safe place. Her name literally means family, and anyone who has ever met her knows just how true that is. She has the gentlest soul and a heart full of love.
Last night, Ohana gave birth to two puppies, and at first, we believed everything was okay. But in the early hours of the morning, around 4am, she went into severe distress. We rushed her to the emergency vet, where we received devastating news—Ohana is septic due to three stillborn puppies still inside of her.
Her body is struggling, and without immediate emergency surgery, she will not survive.
We have already been to multiple vets, and she is now being transferred for emergency surgery. The cost of this life-saving procedure is estimated at $7,000. We have already opened a credit card just to begin covering the expenses, but it’s more than we can manage on our own.
This situation has been overwhelming, unexpected, and deeply painful. Ohana was never just a pet—she is like a daughter to us. Watching her suffer is something no family should have to go through, and we are doing everything we can to save her—for us, and for the two puppies who are depending on her.
I know many may wonder how this happened. Years ago, we were advised to wait on spaying due to her weight, and after not having a cycle for over two years, we never imagined pregnancy was even possible. This has all come as a complete shock.
