Hi, my name is Lesley Lopez, and on February 4th my mother and I rushed our cat, Odin, to animal urgent care after he began showing serious signs of distress every time he used his litter box.
We initially thought this might be a simple UTI something manageable with medication. Unfortunately, the reality was far more serious. The veterinarian told us that Odin’s bladder was severely inflamed and his urethra was completely blocked which is a life-threatening condition. As an emergency measure they placed a catheter to relieve the blockage.
The veterinarian explained that Odin can recover, but only with immediate and intensive care. This includes hospitalization for several days, diagnostic testing, medication, and close monitoring to prevent another blockage. The total estimated cost for this care is $5,500, with a required $4,000 down payment just to begin treatment. Despite doing everything we could, we only had about $500 between my mother and I to give in the moment.
We were forced to bring Odin home with medication only, but we were warned that the risk of him becoming blocked again is extremely high. If that happens it could be within hours or days and it would be another medical emergency that could take his life.
Odin is like my son and watching him struggle while knowing there is treatment available but out of reach has been heartbreaking. We are asking for help so we can get him the care he urgently needs before it’s too late.
If you’re unable to donate, please consider sharing this fundraiser. Anything like donations, shares, or kind words means more than we can express. Thank you so much for taking the time to read and for helping us fight for Odin’s life.
