Hi, I'm Cat, and this is my little (big!) brother Odi. My mum adopted him about 1.5 years ago. It's believed he's currently around 4 years old and had been living in shelters all his life. Due to this, he was on anxiety medication and was meant to be weened off it once adopted. Unfortunately, this hasn't been possible and he's still on the meds despite ongoing training. A recent resource guarding incident caused a fight and injuries of mum's partner's dog, which has now happened more than once. This has resulted in mum not being able to take Odi to her partner's house anymore, and leaving Odi isn't an option since her partner lives 2.5 hours away. Combined with his separation anxiety and now being extremely reactive to other dogs on walks, both mum and Odi are now housebound. No shelters or rescues will take him on due to this new aggression towards other dogs, but he's completely fine with humans. Board & Train programs with the view to rehome are incredibly expensive, especially for a pensioner, so mum has had to look into the impossible decision of behavioural euthanasia. It's absolutely heartbreaking to think that this sweet and simply misunderstood dog may now lose his life. This is my final act of desperation to save him. Elaine at Rescue Hub has been a major asset in helping me find another option for Odi. We want to try and raise $3000 to get him into a 3-4 week Board & Train program with Bear the Dog Behaviourist, while also heavily promoting his fostering or adoption. Please, if you can find it in your heart to help contribute to saving Odi, we would be forever grateful! Thank you for taking the time to learn his story.
