Help Save Nix - A Beloved Family Member in Need

I adopted Nix when she was just a puppy at 14 years old. A street dog turned into the sweetest, cuddliest companion, she quickly became the heart of our family. With her big ears, goofy personality, and loving nature, Nix has a way of melting everyone’s heart. She’s the light of our lives, and we cherish every moment with her.

Recently, Nix has suffered a serious neck injury, and her previous back issues have flared up. On March 29th, we rushed her to Cedar Vet Hospital in urgent need of treatment since her primary vet was closed. Though she seemed to improve after some medication, her pain continued to worsen, and by Wednesday, she was unable to move. We brought her to Abby Pet Hospital, where she received laser therapy and a change in medication. Sadly, her condition only worsened.

Just when we thought she was on the mend, I noticed her breathing became irregular, and at one point, it stopped altogether when she was lying in a certain position. As I rushed her back to the vet, she stopped breathing completely and was in and out of consciousness. It was the scariest moment of my life. We had to perform CPR on her, and thankfully, we got to the clinic just in time. She was intubated and transferred to the Fresno Veterinary ER for overnight monitoring. The doctors suspect she might have IVDD (intervertebral disc disease), which could be causing her spinal discs to deteriorate.

Nix now requires an MRI at UC Davis Veterinary, but the costs are overwhelming. I’ve spent about 4k all together just along on vet bills and the MRI ranges from 8k to 13k. I cannot afford it on my own. As a full-time college student working part-time at Subway, I have been supporting myself completely due to my family's financial struggles. All the savings I had set aside for college expenses have now been spent on Nix's medical bills. My family cannot help, and I was faced with a heartbreaking choice: my education or saving my dog’s life.

Nix is my baby. She’s been with me through so much, and I would do anything to help her. That’s why I’m reaching out—any donation, no matter how small, would mean the world to me and could help give Nix a fighting chance.
