Help Save Nicole's Brain!

Dear Friends and Family,

As some of you know, our friend Nicole Parsons has been facing an incredibly challenging journey recently. Doctors have diagnosed her with a 3cm Brain Tumor called an Acoustic Neuroma that requires immediate surgical intervention. This surgery is not only critical but also financially daunting.

While on a road trip with her camper exploring the Pacific Northwest, Nicole started experiencing stroke and seizure-like symptoms on the side of her face that she attributed to symptoms of Bells Palsy. However, they started to get worse. Preparing to head up in Olympic National Park, she decided she needed to go to the ER as the symptoms worsened to the point where she was having a hard time eating and swallowing. At the ER in Astoria is where they discovered the tumor.

This non-cancerous tumor has hemorrhaged and is pressing on her brain stem so surgery will be scheduled as soon as possible to prevent a life-threatening edema. The surgery will last approximately 13 hours and she will be in the ICU for about a week where she will be under the care of loved ones.

Nicole is self-employed and while she does have insurance, the overall cost is thought to be close to 1/2 million dollars and insurance is only going to cover a fraction of that.

In times like these, we often feel powerless, but there is something concrete we can do to make a difference. We have set up a GoFundMe campaign to help alleviate some of the financial burden on Nicole and Gunnar during this time.
