Hi everyone,
My heart is breaking as I write this. It’s hard to put this into words, but my sweet girl Mya is fighting for her life. I’ve been doing everything I can to help her, but we’ve reached a point where I need to ask for support to give her the care she urgently needs.
Out of nowhere, Mya went from her usual happy, playful self to super lethargic, with no appetite, and white gums. After rushing her to the vet, she was diagnosed with Evans Syndrome, a rare and life-threatening autoimmune disease that’s causing her body to destroy its own red blood cells and platelets.
Her red blood cell count is down to just 14% which is dangerously low. She’s scheduled to receive a lifesaving blood transfusion tomorrow morning, and without it, it’s unlikely she’ll make it.
We’ve already done everything we possibly can to stabilize her: blood tests, an ultrasound, immune-suppressing medications — all just to get her strong enough to survive the transfusion. So far, the bills have already reached $1,500 — and that doesn’t include the cost of the transfusion itself, or the follow-up care she’ll need. Which we’ve been quoted upwards of $5,600 to continue. In my current financial state, I am at a loss on what to do. I hate that money is what is currently standing between life and death for her.
Mya is not just a dog, she’s my whole heart. She’s been by my side through everything, and is my literal definition of love. I can’t imagine life without her, and I know she’s not ready to go. She’s only six years old and has so much more life left to live.
If you’re able to donate anything at all, it will go directly to Mya’s emergency care. And if you can’t donate, please consider sharing this post — every share could bring us closer to the help she needs. You never know who might be able to help.
Thank you for reading, for caring, for praying, and for supporting us through this nightmare. I truly can’t express how much it means.
With love and deep gratitude,
Kasey & Mya
