Dear friends, family, and acquaintances,
My Uncle Steve, a California resident, is on the brink of homelessness. He has significant medical conditions, which have led to joblessness and compounding medical expenses. Uncle Steve is actively engaged with a community sponsor who is helping him re-enter the workforce, however, he has exhausted the last of his savings and is being evicted from his apartment.
While Uncle Steve seeks re-employment, he needs a safe place to sleep at night, nourishment, and access to sanitation facilities. The local shelters are completely full or only provide day resources.
My family and I are hopeful that the generosity of our network can help Uncle Steve get through the next 2-3 months and cover low-cost accommodations, minimum payments on medical debts, and transportation expenses so he can travel to interviews.
Uncle Steve is 68 years old. He has long been my jovial, witty, Chandler-esque Uncle - always ready with a mischievous sarcastic remark. If you grew up with me, you may remember Uncle Steve as a hallmark figure in my childhood. He has always lived nearby and been involved in my immediate family. Recently, with all of his medical and financial complications, he has lost the sparkle in his eyes and clever retorts. This pains me, as does the prospect of seeing him join the masses living in makeshift shelters on the side of the road.
I greatly appreciate any contribution you can make.
The following are just some of the expenses that Uncle Steve must cover immediately:
2 months rent: $3,000
prescriptions: $2,760
gasoline: $200
To all who stop by to read this post, I wish you joy, security, and good health.
